Two wins for Fosters' Apprentices

At two separate Awards Nights on 8th November 2024, Fosters Apprentices Hunter Moon, and Reegan Glass each won national apprentice of the year titles.

Hunter, who won the Master Builders Waikato Apprentice of the Year title earlier this year, competed against eight other regional finalists for the title of National Apprentice of the Year in a 2-day competition in Auckland. The competition included a six-hour practical build, where each of the competitors made a garden house, and a 45-minute interview with the national judging panel.

The judges noted Hunter's exceptional level of dedication, skill and craftmanship as well as his natural leadership qualities and ability to problem-solve. His "structured approach to challenges and consistent discipline throughout the competition, as well as his commitment to quality and passion for the industry" impressed them, too. He was named the Registered Master Builders Association Apprentice of the Year 2024.

Foster Construction GM (Waikato) Adam Findlay said "Hunter has had an exceptional year, and a journey that has been nothing short of inspiring, from day one. With an unwavering commitment to learning and growing, he's a thoroughly deserving recipient of the National title."

Reegan scooped the specialist Steel Construction New Zealand (SCNZ) Apprentice of the Year 2024 at the SCNZ national awards in Rotorua.

In this case, the judges noted the extremely high calibre of steel apprentices, noting that Reegan stood out, “showcasing an edge in skill and dedication”.

Foster Engineering Manager Dean Fletcher said "It was a pleasure to see Reegan win this prestigious award, which is only given on completion of a fabrication apprenticeship. He has a bright future, and we are proud to have him on our team."

Both young men have showcased skill, dedication and a commitment to excellence, their achievements testament to hard work, strength of character and a passion for what they do.
