Purpose-built double-storey office block, designed and built as a statement of the company’s investment in engineering and innovation.

JP Marshall (JPM) Engineering are experienced steel fabricators and industrial engineering providers. With services including design, fabrication and machining, their site covers five workshops and 90+ staff.

About the project

This office project ticked off a few important objectives for the business: bringing teams together, creating a modern environment for client meetings, and providing an attraction for new talent.

Engaged early in the project, Fosters worked with the design team to add construction experience and buildability solutions. The team gained acute knowledge of the site and services through this phase – this being key to successfully retaining some of the existing structure and combining that with a new build.

Working around daily operations on site, Fosters managed demolition of the existing 1970’s office block, adding in the new section, and the fitout in six months. The structural steel element was done by JP Marshall.

The project was delivered on time and under budget.

JP Marshall General Manager Adrian Marshall had worked alongside Fosters for several years, so came to the project with high expectations.

The main objective for JP Marshall was to modernise their dated 1970’s office to create an environment that was both fit-for-purpose and reflective of the company’s success.

Fosters worked with the design team early in the process, offering solutions around buildability. In Adrian’s words: “a more economical and practical build was the result.”

Regarding the process, he said it was easy.

“I enjoyed watching the build take place. Being on site most days, it was interesting to see how it came together.

“A major challenge was the size of the area we could allow for Fosters to work in” he added. “It was impressive how they worked around us, enabling our teams to continue working - pretty much without interruption.

“Fosters’ strengths include the level of resource they bring to a project. We experienced a team of good people whose principles were well aligned with our own.

“Overall, we are very happy with the result. We enjoyed the partnership, feeling like Fosters worked with us rather than for us. And we got what we would expect and demand for the level of our investment.”
