Wintec Student Accommodation

Situated at the Wintec City Campus, a concrete teaching block was completely redeveloped as a modern accommodation solution for mature and international Wintec students. Fosters worked closely with the client and design team to provide a solution which offered quality accommodation at an affordable price.

The existing building was demolished and replaced with a three-storey apartment complex, offering four apartments per level, each containing five or six acoustically rated rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. Each level of the building provides a common area and laundry facilities. The lower ground floor offers space for storage of goods and bikes.

A number of sustainability measures were included in the build, including Passive Infrared Sensor controlled lighting, solar water heating and the re-use of the existing structure. Fosters engaged a high-calibre consultant team, and all worked to satisfy the ambitious budget and programming objectives.

With an impressive team of collaborators, this project was a resounding success, meeting budget and programming targets in readiness.
