Overview
Situated at the Wintec Hamilton City Campus, a concrete teaching block was completely redeveloped as a modern accommodation solution for mature and international Wintec students.
Fosters worked closely with the client and design team to provide a solution which offered quality accommodation at an affordable price.
About the project
The existing building was demolished and replaced with a three-storey apartment complex, offering four apartments per level, each containing five or six acoustically rated rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. Each level of the building featured a common area and laundry facilities. The lower ground floor offers storage space and bike parking.
Several sustainability measures were included in the build, including Passive Infrared Sensor controlled lighting, solar water heating and the re-use of the existing structure. Fosters engaged a high-calibre consultant team, and all worked to satisfy the ambitious budget and programming objectives.
With impressive project management, this project was a resounding success, meeting both budget and programming targets.
