Tamahere Village

Overview

Foster Construction were engaged by Foster Develop and the Waikato District Council to construct Tamahere Village – a community-focused commercial and recreational space for the growing suburb located south of Hamilton. This thoughtfully designed development is a fantastic example of how collaboration creates successful outcomes.

Waikato District Council engaged Foster Construction to complete the outdoor spaces, including a playground, central piazza area, cricket ground and skate park. Tamahere Community Committee were involved in the design, which was influenced by the Victorian-era style of the local school.

Retail/commercial spaces included a Four Square, physiotherapy and dental clinics, a hairdresser, a pharmacy, an accountancy firm, hospitality venues, a bakery, cafes and a real estate agency.

The site manager on this project was key to its success, with his “can-do” attitude and proactive approach to problem solving. A flexible and cohesive relationship between Foster Construction and the clients allowed for design changes and improvements to be easily accommodated. The result was a project delivered on-time and within budget – exceeding client expectations and providing a wonderful facility for the Tamahere community.

About the project

Hillcrest Physiotherapy expanded their business with a second clinic at Tamahere Village – Tamahere Physiotherapy.

They describe their new space as clinical and comfortable, the ideal environment for both their professional health team and their clients. The fit-out was done by the Fosters Maintain team.

Hillcrest Physiotherapy owner Karen Carmichael runs two other clinics and four school clinics. Rebekah Gray-Bird is the co-owner of Tamahere Physiotherapy and is also a practicing physiotherapist, so having the project managed by an experienced business was imperative.

Client testimonial

“Communication, being client-focused and time management are the things I appreciated most about working with Fosters” says Rebekah.

“We chose Fosters because they were a key stakeholder in developing Tamahere Village. Plus, I found their quote to be very in-depth and realistic.”

From start to finish, Rebekah says it was a great experience. “Fosters project management style was exactly what I needed with my busy lifestyle. They called when they had questions but weren’t pushy when I couldn’t answer right away.”

“Time management was fantastic. Due to our own oversight the job was slightly over budget, however Fosters made it happen.” Rebekah adds that the final product matches their initial concept perfectly.

“I recommend Fosters to anyone looking to get a business fit-out done. The finish is high quality and their attention to detail is excellent.

“We are grateful that we made the decision to go with Fosters.”
