Overview
Located within the Waikato Regional Theatre commercial precinct, this fitout project transformed a vacant base-build tenancy into two distinctive hospitality venues while the wider theatre and precinct development remained under construction.
About the project
The 520m² fitout comprises two complementary spaces.
The Bistro offers a refined dining experience, featuring an open kitchen with coal and wood grills, plush banquette seating, warm oak detailing and a private dining room. The venue accommodates 90 diners indoors, 24 outdoors, with a private function space seating 32 guests or hosting up to 50 standing.
The Public Bar provides a more relaxed, social environment with an oak feature bar, live sports screens, and flexible seating for approximately 72 guests indoors and 32 outdoors.
A key client objective was achieving a premium finish while maintaining programme and budget.

The fitout showcases a high level of craftsmanship, incorporating bespoke finishes including Heradesign ceilings, prefinished solid plaster walls, designer wallpaper, oak panelling, feature mirrored ceilings, suspended glass shelving above the bar, and a combination of timber, tile and carpet flooring.
Fosters worked closely with subcontractors throughout the project, focused on quality assurance and detailed coordination to meet the required standard within the compressed timeframe.
Significant logistical challenges came with delivering this project alongside the live construction of the Waikato Regional Theatre precinct, such as restricted site access, limited material storage, and coordination with multiple contractors.
Delivered under a negotiated contract, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) helped define the project scope and optimise delivery. Delivery was on time and on budget.
The result? A visually stunning and vibrant hospitality environment in one of Hamilton's landmark destinations.
