Foton New Zealand

Overview

Located at 24 Earth Mover Crescent in Te Rapa, the new Foton New Zealand building highlights successful industrial design and efficient project management.

The Ebbett group partnered with Fosters on the Foton project based on our successful track record on various build projects, including their flagship Ebbett Hamilton and Ebbett Toyota Hamilton buildings.

About the project

The facility includes a main office with sales and training rooms, an automotive showroom, with a mechanical service department and Toyota vehicle prep area.

Special features include wash bays for cars and trucks, brake testing pits and vehicle hoists. To allow for open plan bays in the vehicle prep area, a truss through the ridge avoided the need for support columns.

This purpose-built Foton project was delivered with a tight timeframe - meeting Foton’s deadline for an international sales meeting in their new building. And, despite unforeseen challenging ground conditions, the project was also delivered on budget.

Exceeding the expectations of this longtime partner, the project underscores Fosters' commitment to delivering the ideal outcome every time.

Client testimonial

Foton New Zealand, previously located in central Hamilton in the old Ebbett Holden building had become outdated and no longer fit for purpose.

They sought a fresh start in a new, state-of-the-art facility,  presenting Fosters with the perfect opportunity to break ground in northern Hamilton - the ideal location for an automotive business.

Nathan Wetere, CFO at Foton New Zealand, explains the relationship with Fosters: "Working with Fosters through various build projects has been nothing but good experiences. We've been nothing but impressed by their professionalism and collaboration, which gave us the confidence to build with them again."

Undertaking a new build amidst recent economic challenges made staying on spec, on time, and within budget paramount.

"We established these objectives with Fosters early in the project,” said Nathan. “They maintained consistent communication throughout, delivering the project on time, on spec, and within budget. We couldn’t be happier."

With Fosters leading the design-build process, Nathan and his team were extensively involved in every project phase.

"It was a collaborative approach with no surprises” he notes. “Anything that could cause a potential delay was addressed promptly, and we had full confidence that it would be resolved. Fosters were always available to address issues at a moment's notice – making the whole process extremely enjoyable.

“The ultimate test of any building project is whether it meets expectations” Nathan concludes. “Fosters exceeded ours, well and truly. The detail and quality of the final product are outstanding, and we are incredibly proud to showcase it – to clients as well as our Foton OEM and Chinese delegates. We would definitely work with Fosters again."
