Commercial construction is booming, and with many exciting projects in the pipeline Fosters is recruiting an experienced Leading Hand to join our team.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Site Manager/Project Manager, you will coordinate a small construction team and be responsible for applying onsite company policies and procedures while acting as an intermediary for onsite workers and site management.
- Manage the onsite Health and Safety of employees
- Maintain a superior team by encouraging high performance and developing and retaining great people
- Encourage an on-site culture that focuses on continuous improvement and delivers exceptional quality and results
- Manage the team and trade partners when necessary
- Complete and present projects on time, within budget, and to specification
About you
As the Leading Hand you will have:
- A New Zealand Trade or relevant carpentry qualification
- Practical working knowledge of the fundamentals required in the carpentry trade
- Experience as a foreman or leading hand
- Appropriate commercial building experience
- A genuine commitment to Health and Safety
- Proven ability to deliver on quality and customer satisfaction
- Ability to work well on your own or as part of a team
- Strong relationship management skills
- Previous experience managing teams and willingness to mentor apprentices
- Exceptional time management – the ability to prioritise work and deliver to deadlines
- A valid NZ Driver’s Licence
