Landmark expansion of Bayfair Shopping Centre, Mount Maunganui.
The Bayfair Redevelopment delivered a significant expansion of one of the Bay of Plenty’s premier retail destinations, creating new retail, dining and entertainment spaces to support the region’s growing population.
About the project
Fosters was selected as main contractor following the successful delivery of Centre Place in Hamilton and provided valuable construction input from the early design stages.
The 3-year project added 11,000m² of new retail floor area and was delivered within a live shopping centre environment, where maintaining public safety, customer access and uninterrupted trading for existing retailers was critical. Careful staging of project works, proactive communication and close stakeholder management were essential to coordinating works within the operational centre.
Works included the fitout of 12 retail stores and a supermarket.
Successful delivery of this expansion established a long-term relationship, with Fosters continuing to support Bayfair through subsequent development projects and ongoing building maintenance.
